Shirley Hills Outdoor Rink / Warming House Weather Policy

Outdoor Rink/Warming House will be closed due to the following conditions:

• Wind-chill is below -10 degrees or more, or temperature below 0.
• Temperatures above 40 degrees or unusually warm temperature has softened the ice, making the rinks unsafe for skating.
• We receive a snowfall of more than 2 inches. This could delay clearing the rink and opening the warming house. 
• Snow storms/blizzards.
• Poor ice conditions.

An Association-wide email will be sent out and practices will be cancelled. While the guidelines above are generally the criteria which will be followed to determine outdoor rink and warming house closures, MWHA reserves the right to close rink/warming house whenever it is in the best interest and safety of the participants.

Outdoor Rink Information

It is highly recommended that you get your child ready for outdoor practice at home due to limited space in the warming house.  Please make sure to dress your child for the weather! Adding a "skull cap" (tighter fitting hat under the helmet), face mask, Under Armour or long underwear and gloves inside of the hockey gloves will help to keep your child warm. 

WARMING HOUSE SCHEDULE

Rink/Warming House is open from late December – late February (weather permitting). Warming House Schedule:

Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday:  3:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Friday:  3:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Saturday: 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Sunday:  10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Practices are typically scheduled Tuesday-Thursday evenings. Check the MWHA calendar on website to see when outdoor rink is available.
