Player Development Objectives

Age Level Objectives:

U – 8 (8 & Under)

TERMITE: An introduction to hockey. Basic skills are introduced in an atmosphere of fun.

MITE: Players develop individual skills as they gain more confidence in their own hockey ability. Basic skills are stressed along with the rules, position play and teamwork. Games are played as a means for teams and individuals to display learned skills and function during competition.

Traveling Team Objectives:

SQUIRT: The Squirt program continues to stress the basic skills and fundamentals, while playing a competitive league schedule of games. Squirts are trained to develop an understanding and awareness of different strategies, position play within the framework of a team.

PEE WEE: Continued hockey development is stressed along with the introduction of checking. Players’ individual skills should become more enhanced as the game becomes faster and more aggressive.

BANTAM: Combining high speed and physical play creates an exciting atmosphere for players at this age. All aspects of hockey are stressed. This is the final level prior to moving on to the High School level.

Girls U10: TheU-10 program continues to stress the basic skills and fundamentals, while playing a competitive league schedule of games. U10 are trained to develop an understanding and awareness of different strategies, position play within the framework of a team.

Girls U12: Continued hockey development is stressed along with the introduction of checking. Players’ individual skills should become more enhanced as the game becomes faster and more aggressive.
