Minnesota Hockey Participation Rule for 2011-12 Season

Beginning in 2010-11, the Minnesota Hockey Participation rule began to allow players the option of essentially playing where they live OR where they go to school.  Please click on the link below to read the new rule:

http://www.minnesotahockey.org/news_article/show/42548?referrer_id=80568

Every registration will be verified before being processed. If it is found that a player is registered using a fraudulent address or fraudulent enrolled school listed, the player will not be allowed to play Mound-Westonka Hockey and all ice fees and registration fees will be forfeited.   A player, whose primary residence IS NOT located in Westonka School District #277, and would like to play Mound-Westonka Hockey may request a waiver from the hockey association that is located in the school district the player resides in.

If you have any questions pertaining to this rule, contact our Registrar for help.

REGISTRATION FOR ALL MITES (boys and girls)

Registration for Mites is open. The first ice times begin in mid-October. MWHA understands that with younger children the decision to play can be at the last minute or even after the season has started. We want to encourage all who wish to try hockey for the first time, so there is no late registration fee.

Players not registered are not covered by USA Hockey and will not be allowed on the ice -- no exceptions. Additionally, any parents who wish to coach need to have their Level 1 USA Hockey Certification by Dec. 31 to be on the ice. Visit the Coaches page for more information.

Learn To Skate

This program, offered by Westonka Community Education & Services in collaboration with the Mound Westonka Hockey Association (MWHA), is designed to teach children the ABC’S of skating…Agility, Balance, Coordination and Speed. Children will learn how to get up after they fall down, proper body position and much more. This program will be led by instructors from the MWHA who are certified by USA Hockey. In addition, parent participation is encouraged! All participants will be required to bring skates and a helmet. Each session will last 50 minutes. Students will be grouped according to age and ability level.

This program is strongly encouraged for first-year Mites or anyone entering organized hockey for the first time.  Additionally, this program is perfect for preparing 4-year olds for the MWHA Mite program next year.

For more information about the program contact Aimee Krebsbach.  Click Here for the full Westonka Youth Sports Initiative newsletter for cost, dates and times.
