White Hawk STP - Revised for 2010

Squirt, Pee Wee and Bantam

Improve overall hockey skills with a program of on-ice and dryland training.  Mound-Westonka's High School Varsity Coach Doug Runke has worked with the STP program the past four summers. He and Assistant Coach DickEmahaiser, who brings 29 years of USA Hockey experience to the program, have revised the program at each level to maximize individual skills development and team play concepts.

White Hawk STP Squirt/PeeWee Program

Both the Squirt and PeeWee sessions will run for a period of 3 consecutive weeks rather than the entire summer. The Squirt group will train in June and the PeeWees in July. This consistency will allow players to build off of prior learning better than spreading it out over the summer. The goal is to have Westonka players skating and learning together in order to increase ability at each skating level. The advantage is in keeping our players working together in the summer to improve our play throughout the year.

Monday and Tuesday practices will focus on the development of individual hockey skills such as skating, shooting, passing, and puck control.

Wednesday practices will include both skills and team play concepts such as line rushes and positional play.

The focus on Thursday practices will be competitions, including small area games and battle drills.

White Hawk STP Bantam/HS Program

The goal of summer Bantam training is to improve players' skills by one year by consistently training the skills and concepts that are needed to compete at the higher levels of hockey. The bantam and high school groups will be run in a way that promotes both individual skill development and the team concepts that will improve our teams throughout the next hockey season.

Hatchett’s Hockey - Summer Pond Hockey Program

This summer we will be working with players in the Bantam programs and older as we have done in the past.  In addition this season we are adding a PeeWee group for the first time as we have had a growing interest from that age group.

We encourage our coaching staffs and former players to participate.  Our ice times are scheduled from June 16th through August 25th on Wednesday evenings.  We will not be skating on July 7th because of the holiday.  Game one begins at 5:45 for the PeeWees, game 2 begins at 7 PM and game 3 will begin at 8:15 each Wednesday evening.  The format will be roughly the same as the last four summers.  We will try to keep the teams even and the game moving.  The same rules will be in effect this season and we will keep track of scoring.  As we did last year we will continue to have referees for each game.

The rules include:

Blue line red line off-sides:  Blue line in and red line out.

Blue line icing instead of red line icing

Penalty shots instead of penalties

5 minute warm up 2-17 minute run time periods, 3rd period will consist of remaining time

Each team will have at least one coach playing with the skaters.

The cost is $150.00 per skater and $95 per goalie.  This season we ask that waivers are signed and fees are paid before we let you or your kids on the ice.  Please let me know if you or your players are interested as the slots tend to fill up quickly.
